Brief of Medan
Medan, literally means “Field” or “Battlefield”.
Hundred of years ago, it was a battlefield where the Deli Sultanate
and the Kingdom of Aceh fought.
Today, Medan is the provincial capital of North Sumatra and it is a
cosmopolitan city with over 2 million inhabitants. Its economy is driven
through export of oil and the third largest cities in Indonesia after
Jakarta and Surabaya.
It is also the Financial and Administration Center for North Sumatra.
Medan is also the gateway to the other provincial cities and is supported
by the Polonia International Airport where there is a daily flight connecting
Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei and other inter-cities
within Sumatra.
